Most Awesome Scavenger Hunt Piedmont Ever Attempted (Seriously)

M.A.S.H.P.E.A.S. is a community wide digital scavenger hunt to be undertaken in and around the Piedmont area.

Our goals are to raise money for DUCK week, to promote Piedmont, Oklahoma and Piedmont businesses and organizations, and to encourage a sense of community.

The hunt is a team event.  Teams are made up of between 5 and 10 humans over the age of 5.  Each team member will donate $10 for the honor of participating. ALL registrations collected will go directly to Piedmont High School DUCK Week.

Each team needs an official team leader for communications purposes, and a team name that they will use as their Hashtag.

The teams register for the event beginning February 28th at the Piedmont Public Library.

Each team member (or their guardian if under age 18) needs to sign a liability waiver as part of the registration process.

The teams have TWO WEEKS, starting at 12:01am on March 5th, to record WHICHEVER ITEMS YOU CHOOSE from the massive-but-awesome list of Cool Tasks to be published later.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO PERFORM ALL TASKS, only the ones that appeal to you most and seem to be most fun or rewarding. The winning team is decided based on points accumulated, not number of tasks accomplished.

Each item indicates how to “turn it in,” whether it be by video or pictorial representation. All Entries must be posted to our Facebook event page MASHPEAS2017 Hunt or your own Facebook page, or your Instagram or Twitter feeds. The posts must be marked with the hashtag #MASHPEAS2017 as well as (#your team name) and the activity number of the task, in order to be counted by the omniscient judges presiding over the Execution of Fun amid the Gathering of Piedmont Peas-Lovers.

A big shout out to Misha Collins for G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S., the event from which this concept was ‘borrowed’.

Some of our favorite apps for pictures and video:

iOS:The camera on iPads and iPhones takes pictures and video that are good enough for digital scavenger hunt purposes.  There are many free apps for photo editing and video editing, but feel free to use your personal favorites.

iMovie: (available in the Apple store) Easy to use app that will edit video from your photo collection, and let you pull in still pics to create a video with audio overlay.

iMotion and iMotion Remote: These 2 work together to make it easy to do stop action video. One device runs iMotion to take the pictures, another mobile devices run iMotion Remote to run the camera remotely.

MSQRD is an easy, fun app for doing a face swap, or for adding face filters to get creativity points. It takes both video and pics.

Android/Kindle Fire:

Vidtrim is a good choice for quick editing on a Kindle fire or other Android device.

Movie Maker Filmaker: This app lets you trim, crop and reorder video clips, and it also has some cool video effects and filters.

The Library owns Kindle Fire and iPad tablets that are available for Library customers to use to test apps.
