Geology Library

We’ve introduced this gentleman before, and we’re proud to have Dr. Devin Dennie back at the library on July 13th for an informative talk about Oklahoma Geology. He’ll explain the history of our state’s foundations through the study of its earthly formations — that sounds like a rap song —  where all the evidence lays under the ground at our feet.
Three times, we’ve been delighted to host Dr. Dennie, and each time he joins us he has been well received, with lively interaction and discussion. Please don’t miss this opportunity to hear him speak.
Even more exciting, stay around. After Devin’s presentation, he will be available to sign copies of his new book, available everywhere July 11th.
Presented through DK, his guide, “My Book of Rocks and Minerals” is, as the publisher describes:

“A children’s visual reference that explains what rocks and minerals are, how they form, and how they’re used, and even highlights record breakers and amazing facts.

My Book of Rocks and Minerals is filled with fascinating facts about and amazing images of rocks, minerals, gems, and fossils from the deepest caves to outer space. Features introduce different categories, from crystals to glow-in-the-dark minerals, and illuminating images provide a closer look and show amazing geological formations. Kids can take their fascination even one step further and use the catalog and activity pages to help them collect and group rocks and discover how different rock types fit into the world around them.

Colorful and informative, My Book of Rocks and Minerals gives kids the expert knowledge they crave and will have them digging deep to discover all they can about rocks, minerals, gems, and fossils.”

Bring the family and spend an hour or two of your summer with a little science in a super fun atmosphere.
(There’s nowhere more fun than your local Piedmont library, right??)
