Celebrate reading—and a milestone year for our nation—by joining the Piedmont Public Library’s 50 States Reading Challenge for Adults! From January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, adult participants are invited to read their way across the country by completing one book set in each of the 50 U.S. states.
📚 How it works:
Read any genre—fiction, nonfiction, mystery, romance, historical, or beyond.
Each book must be completed in 2026 to count toward the challenge.
Track your progress using a paper tracker, available at the library, or participate digitally through our StoryGraph challenge:
🗺️ About the book lists:
The library will provide a suggested list of approximately 10 titles per state, available through the Piedmont Public Library either in-house or digitally via Libby (Oklahoma Virtual Library). These lists are not exhaustive or exclusive—they’re simply a starting point. Participants are welcome to read books not included on the list; just record them on your paper tracker or add them to the StoryGraph challenge under the appropriate state.
🎉 Prizes:
Participants who complete all 50 states by December 31, 2026 will receive a small prize. To claim your prize, bring your completed paper tracker to the library or show your completed challenge in the StoryGraph app.
👤 Age requirement:
This challenge is for adults ages 18 and up only. While we encourage younger readers to explore books set across the country, only adult participants are eligible to officially participate and receive a prize.
