Annual Art Contest

call for entries to art contest

It’s almost time for Founder’s Day, September 10th, at the Baptist Church, around the Baptist Church, blocks and blocks away from the Baptist Church. It’s an enormous event for this tiny town.
Which means it’s ALSO time for the annual Youth Art Contest, for ages 4 to 15.
What? Art? Yes! And this year there is no assigned theme, so your kids can draw/paint/macrame whatever is in their brains, so long as it fits into an 11 by 14 space. And can be hung. On a wall for display.
Let’s review: Art Contest, 11×14 or smaller, ready to hang — use twine or string or frame it in a readymade frame — in any media you choose, for the upcoming Founder’s Day festival in only three short weeks.
We have four categories: ages 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15. The top three talented winners of each category will win a gift card to Hobby Lobby — $50 for first place, $35 for second, and $25 for third — where winners may spend the money randomly and with abandon on all pens, papers, paints, Pez dispensers, that light up their hearts.
Entries must be brought to the library during operational hours between August 30th through noon on Friday, September 9.
No late entries will be accepted, as we need to put all of the artwork into a suitable portable vehicle, lug it into the display facility — the church gym — hang it onto the display walls, and ready it for the judges that evening.
